“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” Benjamin Franklin

The case against Derek Chavin is now in the hands of the jury. People around the world are waiting with bated breath to see if justice will be served. Minneapolis is on high alert as unrest continues to dominate the landscape.

2021 has not been easy so far. COVID-19, police brutality, mass shootings, and the relics of Trumpism have caused us to wonder if we’ll ever be on the right path. Humanity is seeing the rise and fall of the patriarchy in real-time. Thankfully, we are ushering in a new era that calls out the toxic alpha male and the vile behavior that goes along with it. Aggressive behavior without consequences has gone on for far too long. History has repeated this narrative over and over, and we are tired of it.

From Stalin to Hitler to modern-day despots, we have had enough of their violent and malignant behavior. Of course, we know that women can also exhibit this type of destructive behavior — Marjorie Taylor Greene And Lauren Boebert are perfect examples of that. And it’s not just in the U.S where people aren’t going to take it anymore; bullies like Putin and Xi Jinping are finding it harder and harder to hold onto the universal support that put them into power in the first place. Citizens are fighting back. Worldwide protests are taking place, putting these tyrants on high alert.

It will take years for us to right the global ship. But there are many reasons to be hopeful. Despite what we are witnessing daily in this country regarding violence, we only need to look at some of the positive news to feel optimistic. (Flying a helicopter on Mars, for example, is no small feat, and it’s a reminder that people are doing extraordinary things.)

Also, young people are busy inventing new ways of being. Many of them are questioning the old ways of thinking and banding together to create new products and services that benefit society.

Our children will assume the mantle of saving the world. They don’t know what they don’t know, and their optimism will lead us into the light. The patriarchal system is withering and dying. In its place will be a kinder, gentler nation, for real this time.

Stay hopeful.
