You gotta wonder, do Republicans hate us? Despite a warning by health officials to stay “masked up” and pleas from health care workers about the dangers of being exposed to the virus, the governor made a public announcement declaring that as of March 10, Texas will open “100 %.”
Look, I get it. Businesses are suffering. Kids are not in school. We are tired. Those are genuine problems for all of us. But yesterday President Biden said that the U.S. should have vaccines available for all Americans by the end of May.
So, what gives? Why is Abbott taking action now? Especially when there is a strong possibility of new variants causing an uptick in infections. Perhaps he is just pandering to his base while ignoring those workers on the front lines who will face a significant risk of getting infected from those who don’t wear masks. At least Starbucks and Target will still require their employees and customers to wear masks.
The president said it best: “masks make a difference” and that, “the last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking.”
Despite Republican efforts to dismiss the needs of Americans, we will get through this together.
Simple question for you. Do Republicans hate us? #FPLPolls
