Perhaps Brock could have paused for a little fact-checking…or watched the news on two networks.

For instance, in the much-hyped state of Pennsylvania, the change in vote for the Democratic candidate between 2016 and 2020 was about 2%. That swing is not difficult to believe, particularly in a year when the Republican president lied about the coronavirus, then failed to lead a federal response as US infection and death numbers from COVID skyrocketed past most of the rest of the world. There are roughly 80 million Americans who likely struggle to believe that the change was only 2%.
This Air Force vet’s excuses for his conduct in the Senate chamber are as weak as his research. Brock says he wore tactical gear because he was afraid of “B.L.M. and Antifa.” He claims he had zip-tie handcuffs because he found them on the floor, and picked them up to hand over to a police officer when he saw one (but he never did). Ronan Farrow in the New Yorker reports that Brock says, “I didn’t do that because I had put them in my coat, and I honestly forgot about them.”
Give me a break. Would that line even work for someone caught shoplifting bubble-gum?
